Leao was very unwell, and the tumour on his spleen was like a ticking time bomb, he could have died at any moment. We were asked to help with the cost of removing the spleen and the tumour, so we agreed and paid 1036.36 euros for the removal of the entire spleen and tumour.
Benfica, who we have helped before, had some injuries, and they looked infected. His owner took him to the vet and we paid 238.50 euros to help him.
Tareco is a cat and was feeling very unwell, not eating and needed to see the vet. His owner had paid everything she could afford and asked us for help. We paid 171.38 euros and Tareco was found to have colitis, and also an inflamed colon and a small gallstone, so he will need some care and we will be ready if needed.
Guera, who we helped in the previous quarter, needed to see the vet again, she wasn't well, so we paid 188.65 euros for the consultation and wound cleaning. She needed some medication for an infection. Sadly despite her recovering from her operation, and looking better, Guera started struggling to eat, and she was found to have a tumour in her mouth. It was considered inoperable and Guera was allowed to go gently over the bridge with her owner by her side. We paid 139.50 euros for this. RIP Guera, say hi to Buddy for me. π
Keane is a 12 year old boy who sadly had an eye removed. The family had to borrow the funds for this operation, but it was important, as the eye had a corneal ulcer and it wasn't able to heal. Sadly the second eye also had the same issue, but the vet felt that eye could be saved, so we were asked to help with the cost of this operation, to save Keane's sight. We paid 138.08 euros towards the treatment he needed.
Junior is just 8 years old, and a little guy at 5kgs, but was struggling to walk, so his owner asked for help to take him to the vet, and we agreed. He needed some fluid treatment for his kidneys, and he will need further checks, so we paid 191.50 euros for the treatment and medication. He needed more evaluation and medication for rickettsia, a test for leishmaniosis, and an abdominal echograph, revealing chronic lesions and gastritis, sadly he must be in pain, so we paid a further 280 euros and he was much better for it. Then sadly he took a turn for the worse, and had to go into hospital. We helped him again by paying 520.48 euros for his tests and treatment.
Apollo was attacked by a much bigger dog, and he is just 2 months old, with a terrible leg injury. He urgently needed an operation, and we were asked to help, so we paid 600 euros for Apollo to have his operation.

A beautiful cat called Chanel was pregnant, but developed a uterine infection and mastitis after giving birth and needed to be hospitalised. Her bill was very high, and we agreed to pay 400 euros for her treatment.
Bob was very sick. He isn't a young dog, but he is much loved. He had some dehydration, nasal discharge, and the start of pneumonia, as well as abdominal distension, muscle atrophy, and generalised alopecia. He had previously done blood work consistent with hypothyroidism and mild anaemia, and was tested for Leish. He spent a lot of hours at the hospital, and returned the next day for overnight IV fluid treatment. We helped him by paying 249.36 euros for the initial appointment with tests and medication, then 92.08 euros for his in-patient day. 27.35 euros was paid for his next visit, and then 30.40 euros and 25.13 euros for his follow up tests.
Campiao sadly this poor dog jumped off the bed, as he does most days, but he landed badly and suddenly lost the use of his back legs, and also became incontinent. His owner rushed him to the hospital and he had x-rays and was given medication, but she didn't have the money for him to be admitted or for a CAT scan, so she asked us for help. The X-ray didn't show anything, and the CAT scan also didn't help. We paid 369 euros for the scan, but this injury was un-survivable, and poor Campiao went to sleep, loved by all his family. π
Pluto suddenly started bleeding from the nose, and his worried owner rushed him to the vet for treatment. They had no money to pay the vet and we helped by settling the bill for 218.50 euros.
Marega is a French Bulldog, and she is much loved and very sweet. She had lost the ability to move her legs, and this was treated but the treatment made her awfully sick. Her poor tummy was very sore, and she was in the hospital on medication and trying to recover. We paid 363.80 euros as her owner had no funds left for this.
Chloe, a beautiful 2 year old much loved dog, became very unwell at home. She was taken into the hospital for tests and urgent treatment, and kept in for several nights. She was diagnosed with Leptospirosis, and also her lungs were struggling and she had a mass on her kidney. We paid 500 euros towards the bill and we are still in contact with Chloe's owner to help when needed.
Lua is just a year old, she is a cat and she had a terrible fall. She was 7 floors up, and she fell all the way and broke her poor legs! She needed 2 urgent operations and the vet suggested the owner ask us for help as this was unaffordable. We agreed to pay 600 euros for Lua to have her operations.
Pipoca was in a lot of discomfort with a large mass, dragging underneath her. She went to the vet with our help, but sadly in addition to heart problems, skin problems and eye problems, she had alterations on her liver and spleen on the ultrasound. Her liver was very enlarged, with heterogeneous parenchyma and interlobular free fluid, and the spleen also had a heterogeneous parenchyma. This was likely to be caused by a tumour. During the ultrasound it was clear that Pipoca was very painful in her upper belly and showing signs of discomfort. Sadly she needed to be seen sooner, much sooner, but her owner didn't know about us, and had no money to do it. We paid 146 euros for all the tests.
Simao had an ear infection, and we paid 81.77 euros for him to have that cleaned and taken care of. He also needed an X-ray for his knee as the metal plates in there are causing him some issues. We paid 19.41 euros for his re-visit to the vet for his ear.
A big beautiful 4 year old boy called Nero was rushed into the vet as an emergency as he was very unwell. They recorded his temperature as 41Β°C and it was suspected he had heatstroke. The vets instantly started urgent cooling methods, and did get him cooler, and blood tests were done. He had laid down in the sun, been unable to get himself back up, and therefore developed the heatstroke. He was also given medication for pain and told to return in a couple of weeks to be sedated and have X-rays, as he did have muscle wasting. Sadly it was then discovered his back legs/hips were so terribly painful it was cruel to keep him alive. He had to be euthanised, and we paid a total of 121.99 euros for Nero to be assessed, treated and sadly allowed to rest in peace. π
Cristal is a lovely cat. She had a growth on her palate that prevented her from breathing and eating and urgently needed an operation. Sadly eating was causing her so much pain that she stopped entirely, but needed her strength for the operation. Therefore she was hospitalised and a feeding tube was put in to keep her weight up for the surgery. There was a fundraiser for her, but we also added our help as the fundraiser wasn't sufficient. We have offered 100 euros towards this, and also have 35 euros from the sale of a donation of a beautiful set of glasses. Get well soon Cristal.
