Nina who has been in the group for a little while with an inflamed gut, and needing tests and medication, had to visit the vet again for sore itchy bald patches on her skin. It was in different areas and the vet has given her some medication after testing her for Leish, which luckily she was negative for. We paid 198.99 euros for her test, consult and medication then another 200 for more tests and medication.

Daisy who has waited for such a long time for her operation to help her, as she was born with malformations to one of her back legs, making walking impossible and painful, finally had her operation. She had to grow a little, and a vet who could do the operation for a sensible cost had to be found, so thanks to the many people involved in Daisy's situation, we paid 2243.84 towards her operation, having paid for the TAC in the previous few months.

Tico had been having heart medication for a while, but had started coughing and seemed a little unwell, so went to the vet, to check his lungs and heart. We paid the 115.20 euros for his consult, tests and medication and then he needed another check to see if he had improved and we are happy to say he had improved. He had another check up to see how he was responding, and so far so good, we paid 83 euros for that.

Lincoln was feeling unwell, and we were asked to help. He was struggling to breathe and not his normal self, so he went to see the vet, and sadly it was decided that after many happy and healthy years his life was coming to an end. We helped him go over Rainbow Bridge with peace and dignity Run free, fly high Lincoln. ๐Ÿ™

Sadly Suricata, a dog we helped in the last update, had to be helped to go over Rainbow Bridge as she wasn't going to get better, and she spent her last few weeks at home with her family, surrounded by love. ๐Ÿ™ We paid the 63 euros to help her go to sleep.

The owner of Gaspar asked for help, because Gaspar had infections in his ears and he had made them sore scratching them. We agreed we could help Gaspar with the small operation he needed to drain his ears, and feel better. His owner did manage to raise some funds, and we paid the last part which was 65 euros.

Poor Benfica has had some real pain in his ears, and they looked like they had been eaten away by disease, so we got him booked into the vets and he was positive for Leish but negative for all the other diseases. So he has a safe space while he is treated, and he has medication to take. We paid 159.80 euros for his evaluation, tests and treatment, then a further 115.87 for further treatments.

Benfica

Alf needed to see a vet very urgently, and the owner couldn't pay for this, so we settled the 69.12 for him.

Kaiser had been into the vet previously, as he had eaten something he shouldn't have. His family paid 1300 euros for the to be removed, as it was all mixed in with his internal organs. But even after all of that poor Kaiser needed to go back into the hospital as his intestines had stopped working and he has severe pancreatitis, so he had another large vets bill for his life to be saved. The vet told the family about Buddy's Legacy thank goodness, as we were able to help Kaiser and paid 1578.47 for his treatment.

We were then asked to help a dog called Teddy who seems to have a hernia in his bowel which is very painful and also prevents him from wanting to eat as his digestive system isn't working properly. I agreed to help as this is urgent, as he could get a blockage or the bowel could burst. So Teddy went to the vet and we paid 638.97 to make him feel better again.

Amelia needed an operation to fix the cruciate ligament in her hind leg, and her owner spent a few months trying to raise funds for this before finally somebody told her Buddy's Legacy is here to help. She asked us for help, and of course we agreed, her efforts, and Amelia suffering for a few months in pain deserved all the help possible. So early in September Amelia had her operation and we paid our part which was 585 euros.

Flay had a huge mass in the abdominal area, and needed to see a vet and her owner had no money for it so asked us for help. We paid 304.55 for the assessment, tests and medication, but sadly Flay was in too much pain and she was gently helped over the bridge with her owner by her side. ๐Ÿ™

Pandora is a young female who sadly got hit by a car and broke her back leg. We have had a quote of over 700 euros just for the operation but went to another vet who kindly gave us a quote of 400 euros, she may need other treatments afterwards, so we have agreed to help her and paid 511.90 in total for the operation and also tests and medications.

We started Buddy's Legacy with one of our intentions to be to sterilise the pets of low income people to help control accidental pregnancies, and also the illness that can come with not being sterilised. However we started to realise quickly that it wouldn't be easy to find the money to do this unless there was a cancer or condition which required it. So to allow us to commence this important work we are very grateful to have received a grant from DPDSAA animal charity which is based in the UK and does focus a lot on helping with the costs of sterilising animals in Portugal. So a huge thank you to them for helping us with this. Thank you DPDSAA, we have started and will continue doing this alongside our other important work! ๐Ÿ™‚ You can check out the DPDSAA website here.
