A cat called Nino had a painful urine infection. His owner managed 100 euros of the bill but was very concerned she couldn't manage the rest, so we paid 125.12 euros to help Nino feel much better.
The tiny 11 month old Pirulita had a fall and sadly broke both her front legs! This was a very difficult situation as she is so small, and to operate would cost 1500 euros, even with generous discounts from the vet. We paid the entire 1500 euros and wish Pirulita a happy and healthy full life ahead.
Estrelinha was helped by Buddy's Legacy near the end of 2025 as she had a torn ligament in her leg. Sadly during the recovery she had the same injury to the other leg, and we were asked to help her again. We couldn't manage all of it, but we paid 500 euros towards her vets bill and hope she has a good recovery.
Suzy the cat was very unwell, and the owner had spent everything she had and more on their previously unwell cat, but sadly she died. So the family are devastated and have no money to save Suzy, so we stepped in and paid 249.90 euros for our part in her vet bill.
Thyra is a beautiful Great Dane and she was young with her entire life ahead of her when she fell and broke her spine. This is a devastating injury and will forever have changed her life and that of her loving family. They will forever have vets bills and Thyra will forever struggle. But she is loved and the family asked us for a little help. We paid 133 euros for bills they couldn't afford.
Willie was very unwell, and needed some tests and medication. We paid 240.95 euros for this in the hope that he can feel better.
Simao was viciously attacked by a big dog which left him with terrible injuries. The owner rushed him straight to a vet who started work on him straight away. We paid 778.05 euros and it was a fight for his survival. He did manage to recover at the hospital, then he went to a surgeon for non invasive treatment to fix his 2 leg dislocations.
He sadly then was found to have a painful broken bone in his leg and needed a further surgery to fix this, and we stepped in again, as we want him to fully recover from all of this awful situation, and we paid 655 euros for the operation, then another 61.17 for his recovery. Good luck Simao, we are all with you. 🙏
A beautiful German Shepherd dog called Max broke his back leg in multiple places, and the operation to mend it was going to cost 1400 euros. So the vet asked us for help as the owner couldn't afford this. We paid 700 euros for his operation, and hopefully he will be as good as new.
A cat called Gabriella needed her eye removed, and sadly there were some complications, so we helped with this and paid 115.40 euros for her to feel better.
A female dog called Pretinha went for sterilisation, but they discovered they also had to remove two mammary tumors and also repair a hernia, procedures that are important to do at the same time and we paid 252.21 euros for this.
A lovely Collie called Lolita was pregnant, and her babies died inside her and she needed emergency treatment to save her life. The vets bill was over 2000 euros and then she needed a blood transfusion which would add another 250 euros to the bill, but it couldn't be done until something was paid, and we asked for help with the bill and the very kind group members donated sufficient to allow us to pay 1750 euros.
Lolita needed more bloodwork done after she was discharged, and the owner was struggling with the debt she had before she asked us for help, so we needed to finish what we started, so we paid for her tests and medication.
Floki is a boxer dog who needed a mass removed from her leg. Sadly this was found to be cancerous, but Floki came through the operation and recovery very well, and recovered from this operation, we paid 600 euros for Floki.
Chloe was struggling to move, suddenly, despite previously having been a happy and playful girl. It was discovered that she needed an operation to remove a cervical hernia, which was a very delicate operation costing over 3000 euros. We managed to pay 500 euros towards this, but sadly the owner had to find the rest from friends, family and loans. But Chloe did have her surgery and is now much better.
Guera is a much loved 8 year old family pet, and her fast growing painful Mammary Tumour needed urgent removal, and also Streetlife and APAA joined in and paid for her to be sterilised and for the worst of the tumour removal, as she needed this done in 2 surgeries. Thanks to all of us working together, she should be happy and healthy and is awaiting the second surgery.

We started Buddy's Legacy with one of our intentions to be to sterilise the pets of low income people to help control accidental pregnancies, and also the illness that can come with not being sterilised. However we started to realise quickly that it wouldn't be easy to find the money to do this unless there was a cancer or condition which required it. So to allow us to commence this important work we are very grateful to have received a grant from DPDSAA animal charity which is based in the UK and does focus a lot on helping with the costs of sterilising animals in Portugal. So a huge thank you to them for helping us with this. Thank you DPDSAA, we have started and will continue doing this alongside our other important work! 🙂 You can check out the DPDSAA website here.
THANK YOU to everybody who donated a Christmas Gift to Buddy's Legacy, we raised an AMAZING 1971.67 euros, and this will help us with the vaccinations of pets of low income people. With these gifts we have vaccinated 20 dogs and 9 cats so far!
A huge thank you to the amazing Wristbands Europe who do a great job creating wristbands for companies and charities, and with their help, and the wristbands they created for us we have Buddy's Legacy wristbands for sale, to support the Association.
