Kika was at the vets with fever and some bad liver test results. However she was allowed to go home but her owner couldn't cover the entire bill, so we helped by paying 100.15 euros towards it. Kika then needed more help, as she was off her food, so it was found that she had a slight infection, and we paid the vet 106.30 euros for her to feel better.
Noel, a cat with an uncomfortable urine infection needed help, and we paid 81.74 euros to help him feel better.
Pequinito needed some help and we paid 56.30 euros for his consultation.
Eevee is a much loved cat, and she had mucus and drooling, and she wasn't eating. Her family were worried to take her to the vet due to the cost, which they had no funds for. So I agreed a figure with the vet which I felt would at least get some answers, and it turned out to be gingivitis and she has medication so hopefully she will be back to normal eating and feel better soon. We paid 113.15 euros to make her feel better.
Max is a 5 month old kitten who was unfortunate enough to find himself in the path of a car. He has a seriously broken hip and also possibly some internal issues, and there was blood in his urine and he stopped eating. He was taken into the hospital for overnight observation, and took a turn for the worse. He ended up in the hospital for a few days and as soon as he felt better he had his operation. Another Association paid 250 euros towards this, and we settled the remaining 410.11 euros.
Kitty is a small dog with a large mass, and we agreed to pay for the consult, and diagnosis with possible medication if this was needed. We paid 31.50 euros for the consult, then she needed an operation but sadly when she went for her surgery she was found to have tumours in the lungs, and this is all considered inoperable. Kitty went home to spend time with her owner, who loves her dearly and is very sad that she couldn't be operated and healed. We paid 91.75 euros for the treatment she had, and will help if she does need further interventions. 🙁
Poor little Pantufa made the mistake of running out of the door when his owner's mum opened it. A car ran completely over his back legs, causing a break and terrible flesh wounds. The owner spent everything they had helping him, even using credit cards and incurring high debts. Then they asked us for help, as Pantufa will need to visit the vet for dressing changes and medication between 3 to 6 times a week, and there is no money to pay for it. So we agreed to help and paid 403.36 euros for Pantufa.
Leica had a fall, and severely broke her ankle, which needed specialist treatment. She needed a bone graft from the elbow, and it was a very complicated operation. Another Association paid 250 euros from the total 1650 euros, and we had agreed to pay part of this, but sadly not all of it. So we managed to settle 500 euros towards it.
Kika has needed a little help for her medication bill before, and we were on hand again to help and pay the 43.52 euros for her.
We had been asked to help a dog called Boyka as he had itchy skin, poor thing, so I agreed for a consultation and medication. Boyka saw the vet and we paid 48.10 euros, and then he had another check up, and we paid 70 euros for his medication for a few months, and hope he feels better soon.
Pituco was just 6 months old, and became very unwell with Parvo virus. He saw a vet, and needed to go into hospital and was in for several nights undergoing treatments and transfusions and medication and he did start to get a little better so the hospital felt he may improve at home in his normal environment. We paid 1003.79 euros for the hospital bill.
Poor Estrelinha was having a lovely and happy life as an older dog with her family when suddenly she was in terrible pain and couldn't put her foot on the ground. The vet diagnosed a ruptured cruciate ligament, and she needed an operation with pins and a plate to help her pain and mobility and add strength to the leg where the injury was. So we paid 162.83 euros for some tests to ensure she was as healthy as possible, then we paid 1190 euros for her operation, which included a hernia removal whilst undergoing the operation on her leg, allowing her to go back to her happy and healthy life.
A much loved cat called Nelson needed an eye removed, it was very painful and couldn't be saved, so we paid 233.98 euros to help him feel better soon.
Brandy a much loved dog had a terribly painful lump in her eye, and the vet agreed to remove it, so we paid 127.43 euros and we worked with the vet and also with Streetlife and Brandy was sterilised at the same time. Teamwork allowed Brandy to feel better, and the cost was kept low doing both things at one time. We hope Brandy feels relieved.
Chiara sadly had a disagreement with a dog in her home, and she needed to see the vet as her paw was injured. We paid 213.71 euros to help her feel better, and she is much happier.
Luna needed an operation to remove breast tumors, and her owner could only afford the blood tests and ultrasound, so we paid for the operation and aftercare, totalling 562.13 euros. Luna is happy and healthy now.
Lassie was very sick with a terrible infection and cancer in her womb. She needed an urgent operation, and the final bill was 541.83 euros, and 100 euros was kindly settled by Make A Bid Make a Difference, and a very generous donation to the vet our part was 291.83 euros, which we paid and hope Lassie has a Happy Christmas, and recovers at home with her owner.
Papi needed a check up. He had a course of Leishguard after stopping alipurinol and they were not sure whether he needs to start them again. He was showing some discomfort, holding his paws up and when he was adopted with Leish his paws were damaged already. We paid 104.54 euros to help him feel better and to be sure he was getting what he needed.
We started Buddy's Legacy with one of our intentions to be to sterilise the pets of low income people to help control accidental pregnancies, and also the illness that can come with not being sterilised. However we started to realise quickly that it wouldn't be easy to find the money to do this unless there was a cancer or condition which required it. So to allow us to commence this important work we are very grateful to have received a grant from DPDSAA animal charity which is based in the UK and does focus a lot on helping with the costs of sterilising animals in Portugal. So a huge thank you to them for helping us with this. Thank you DPDSAA, we have started and will continue doing this alongside our other important work! :) You can check out the DPDSAA website here.
THANK YOU to everybody who donated a Christmas Gift to Buddy's Legacy, we raised an AMAZING 1971.67 euros, and this will help us with the vaccinations of pets of low income people.
In October we spent 2179.45 euros.
In November we spent 3490.21 euros.
In December we spent 1494.39 euros.
