Bin, who was in the previous update having an operation became unwell a few days after the operation which we paid for in the previous 3 month update, and needed some further interventions. The cost for this was 160.73 which we did agree to pay after some very kind donations came in when we appealed for help.
Kiko who was in the previous update for blood tests had low but inconclusive results, but still was not eating. Also for safety he had to have bloods and heart testing so we paid for that in advance of his teeth care operation, 112.50. The next step while we wait for retesting is teeth care, which will cost 218 euros, then Kiko needed some more interventions, as he was still not eating, so in the hope of working out why he went back to the vet and we paid the 72 euros. 170.10 was then paid as Kiko and his younger sister Nina needed their vaccinations and regular health checks, so I decided to try to keep Kiko as healthy as possible while the vets work out what is wrong with him.
We had a desperate plea for help from a lady who had been asking in the groups but didn't know our group existed, which is why I really want people to spread the word. Her poor dog had a cyst/tumour which she hadn't been able to afford to take to the vet so it got worse and worse, and again this is how things increase in cost and treatment need. The dog is called Estrela and she needed a mastectomy costing 642.20, which we settled for her. Estrela is now much better and very happy.

Sadly Straw was hit by a car and a lot of damage was done to her leg and foot. Her owner did manage to pay enough to get her in the door at the vets in the emergency, but didn't have any money left to pay off the bill, so she asked for our help. We didn't even have time to request donations, and the vets didn't even see our emails, so the owner struggled, but we paid the final 37.26 euros to help out. Straw then needed some post op care and we helped with that and paid 94.50 as Straw's owner was struggling to find it, and the bill had been growing. Hopefully Straw is happy and healthy now. π
A poor little dog called Pequenito was attacked by another dog and the injuries were quite extensive. Luckily the owner managed to raise a lot from social media and family and friends, and there was just 47 euros left to pay, so we settled that for him.
Simba had an unfortunate situation, and ate a bone which meant he had to have it removed. The family managed to pay most of the bill, but some of the would reopened, so there was an extra cost they couldn't manage, so we paid for that 103.60. Then poor Simba had to be rushed back in for an emergency and his would reopened, so he was cleaned up, and everything was redone, then the vets kept an eye on him for a little while, and the owner had already spent everything they had, so we settled the 465.62 euros.

Max had an accident when a door was accidentally opened and the first time ever Max was out alone he got hit by a car, which drove off and left poor Max, a much loved family pet laying broken in the road. The family rushed him the their vet, and he had 2 broken legs, very severe breaks needing specialist surgery and the family were devastated with no way at all to pay for this terrible emergency which was 1500 euros not including medication. but with fast action, and good contacts, along with the kindness of strangers we managed to get Max 2 operations on his legs and We also paid the extra 103.85 for medication and bandages and a protective cone, so hopefully he will make a full recovery.

We had another emergency, poor Pandora who had been adopted in full health suddenly became unwell. When she was rushed to the vets they found 2 dead pups inside of her, so she was operated on, and the owner couldn't afford it, but started emergency fundraising, as did we. We paid 184 euros for that part of Pandora's treatment, but she went into a coma, and to admit her into a 24 hour intensive care hospital we had to find 300 euros otherwise they were not going to admit Pandora and she could have died after all she had already been through. I worked tirelessly for 10 hours to help Pandora, and finally got her admitted.

Snoopy went missing for 8 days, nobody knows what happened, but when he managed to find his way home he was limping. His owner lost her job, but took Snoopy to the vet as he seemed to be in a lot of pain. It turned out he had a BROKEN LEG! π So that she could help Snoopy his owner started a fundraiser but it was slow to work, she didn't know about Buddy's Legacy. But as soon as she heard about us, and we helped her raise funds for Snoopy we had enough money between her and us to get Snoopy the operation he needed, and we paid 349.36 euros just in time, as he had suffered a lot.

Angelino is a cat and is just in recovery from recovering from panleukopenia and the food she needs is like medication for him and it was 82.89 which was too much for the person trying to save him, so as a one off Buddy's Legacy bought some for him, to help him recover..Good luck Angelino.
Tou Tou needed a heart check, and teeth fixed, as he had awful pain in his mouth and was struggling to eat, so we agreed to help and paid for this, including the medication he would need for recovery 178.10 euros.

Frederico is blind. He has cataracts in both eyes, and slowly this has got worse until he can't see at all. The cost to help him was another high bill which we could not agree to as we had a few in the same time period. So the owner had already been saving little by little. but never would have achieved this cost. So we decided it was fair to give to Frederico what we are giving to Luna. Sadly though, on the day of the operation it was decided Frederico could not have the operation, as his issue was worse than first thought, and he had progressive retinal atrophy and could not be helped. We paid the bill anyway, which was mainly from regular donations, as we hadn't raised sufficient in the time we had and was 404.95 for the consultation, tests, and medication and the family are devastated but love Frederico and will help him through life with his failed eyesight. π
Bin has been suffering from the same condition he previously had, and we helped him with, but the other side, and had several cm's of bowel coming from his Anus, and couldn't walk for the pain and discomfort. After a lot of consideration, and lots of different opinions from different vets, and a very kind benefactor who donated half of what we needed for Bin, we agreed to again pay for Bin to be operated on, at a cost of 1500 euros. Bin was then held at the vets after he had further complications, and they wouldn't let him go home until we paid another 200 euros we didn't expect or authorise, so we paid it, just for Bin to be allowed to go home. π

I discovered K who we first knew of when she badly broke her leg last year had 900g of breast tumour removed, and there was an outstanding bill for this which the owner was struggling with, as the owner was still trying to pay down the debt for the broken leg. With all of this in mind, I decided to settle the 330.80 euros for K's operation, so the owner just has to finish paying for the existing bill for the broken leg.

Tyco needed a heart exam to see what was going on with him, as he had some indications that he had issues, and may need long term medication. We paid 80 euros for the heart exam, and we will consider options regarding medication payments. We also helped with the blood tests, and this was 56 euros. The owner will pay what she can for medication each month and we will try to manage the rest, and it may be increased or decreased depending on how Tyco gets along with it.
A loved and owned dog called Flecha was in a desperate situation with a terrible injury to it's back, possibly caused by another dog, and the owner had no way to pay for treatment, so we paid for emergency admission to hospital, and treatment, and the cost of this was 296.40. It was instant, no time to ask for help in the group but I did know the people involved in getting the dog to the vet so trusted this situation and we paid the vet. This covered the emergency treatment and 24 hours care. Then there was a bill for 17 euros then again 17 euros for the wound checks and dressing change twice.
Luna has not had much luck, she was rescued after being hit by a car, and she was taken care of, then she was poisoned, and he owner has no money to help her. Her eyes were so badly damaged by the effects of the poisoning she needed 4 operations. We sent her to a specialist and paid 103.60 for the consultation, her operations were quoted at a cost of 1108.14. We made her our Christmas Fundraiser dog, so everything we made from the Fundraising efforts was meant to go towards Luna getting her sight back. Sadly Luna died, and went over the Rainbow Bridge just before her operation, and our fundraiser was in her honour, and any dogs helped by the money we raised were in her name so Luna did help other dogs. We are sorry Luna we didn't get to help you, but now you can see it all.. π

We were asked for emergency help for a cat called Sensei who had been off food, getting lethargic since a week and breathing funny, and was already in the hospital with no means to pay, also poor Kru, another cat for some reason had all an open jaw wound with blood and foam crying in the morning and was rushed to the hospital. His whole head was swollen and we were asked for emergency help again..343.68 was paid to help these cats get healthy again.
Molly was a dog we had helped back near the start of Buddy's Legacy, so when I was asked to help her again, as she had breathing issues, and needed urgent care we agreed, and paid 242.65 to help her. Get well soon Molly!

Daisy was found in a bin with her litter mates still covered in Placenta. The people who found them kept Daisy, and as she grew they discovered she has a femur malformation: her bone is curved and cannot hold the patella in the correct position. The only solution is a complex surgery that can only be performed at a Hospital in Lisbon. I have spoken to a specialist in Faro who confirmed this. The procedure involves cutting and straightening the femur with a pin and securing the patella with clamps. Daisy's owners consulted several specialists, and only this hospital has the technical expertise for such a complex surgery. The cost can reach up to 3,000 euros, depending on potential complications β an amount that is beyond their financial capacity. In honour of poor Luna, and with permission of Luna's owner we made Daisy our Christmas Fundraiser dog, and with raffles and kind donations we will be able to get Daisy mobile.

We had a sad start to 2025. A dog called Carol who was not young, and had an inoperable tumour needed to go to sleep in peace, and we paid 150.70 euros for this. I did argue the cost with the vet, over the phone and via email as Carol was only 6 kgs but they insisted it is set out as this value by the boss of the hospital and they could not reduce it. This also covers Carol to be left at the hospital. RIP Carol. ππ
